SLM Technology

SLM TechnologyDefinition
Selective Laser Melting (SLM) is an advanced additive manufacturing process that utilizes a laser to selectively melt and solidify metal powder in a predefined area, building up the desired part layer by layer. This technology is predominantly employed in industrial applications and offers significant technical advantages, particularly in the production of complex molds, personalized medical components, and automotive parts.

SLM TechnologyProcess Principle
SLM, also known as Selective Laser Melting, operates on a similar principle to Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). A laser is directed onto a bed of metal powder, selectively melting and fusing the powder particles to form a solid layer. This process is repeated layer by layer until the final part is produced. Prior to printing, the model is prepared and support structures are added using specialized software. The data is then exported to the printer for fabrication.
